Car Park Catch Phrase
by DaZZaBoY

Car Park Catch Phrase is a game on the morning slot of Radio
1 hosted by Chris Moyles. Now I didn't used to like Moylesey
'cos I always considered him a noisy, arrogant windbag (to put
it politely!) but now he's taken over the breakfast show from
foxy Coxy, I find him quite amusing.

Anyway, the game is based on the original show previously run
by Roy Walker on ITV, which involved the basic concept of
guessing a well known saying or phrase by watching a short
animation starring good old Mr Chips, who for the purpose
of this game is now known as Mr. Fish - probably for copyright
reasons?

Moylesey has taken a twist on the original game and gets 2
listeners to ring in whilst sat in a car park. He then describes
an animation and the first one to beep their car horn gets first
crack at a guess. The first one to get 2 sayings correct wins!

It was a laugh on one of the morning shows last week because
Moylesey had 2 delivery drivers on from various parts of the
country and the answer to the first question was 'Can't see
the forest for the trees'.

After increasingly easier clues, Moylesey virtually spelt it
out to the callers word for word, one of the guys finally got
it right but by this stage Moylesey was so frustrated he
kicked the second caller off! haha!

The geezer that was left then had a free go at the second
question without any competition. He only had to answer
correctly to win a prize. Easy!

The clue to the anim was '...I'm at home, I'm placing my
hat down and this saying was sung by Paul Young?' Obviously,
the answer was 'Wherever I lay my hat thats my home'. Guess
what the caller said? 'Home is where the hat is!'... oh dear!

Needless to say, he got booted off aswell. :o]

If you are in the vacinity of a radiogram around 9.40am Mon-Fri,
tune into Radio 1 and have a listen. All good fun.!

You can also catch up on previous shows in Real Audio streams
on the Radio 1 website.
